Rob Hitchmough has been performing improvisation and stand up for over 30 years. He is a qualified drama teacher and trained actor, originally training under Doreen Canon (RADA) before joining London Theatre Sports.
Rob regularly hosts workshops called ‘Improvisation for Doctors’ on GP training schemes. He also holds permanent posts at The City Lit Adult Education College and The Sylvia Young Theatre School, as well as teaching at The Actors Centre (a drama school for professional actors.) He has also taught at Wandsworth Prison and was employed on an annual basis by Hatfield University between 2005 and 2011 to deliver a lecture entitled, ’Classroom Control, from a Stand-up Comedian’s Perspective.’
Writing credits include: Children’s television dramas: ‘Billy & Layla’ and ‘Time Travel.’ Stage plays: ‘Campsite’ & ‘One Step Ahead’ (which was shortlisted for The Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize.)
Acting credits include: Spooks, Watching (sit-com), three of the soaps, Absent (Woman's Hour series on Radio 4) and about 10 short films.
The Wimbledon Drama Club began in January 2019 there's not a lot to say about it, apart from the fact that it's growing steadily and not only are the participants, coming back they are also bringing others.
Rob is an established professional comedian. He has performed over 5,000 professional stand-up gigs at just about every major venue in the UK and Ireland, including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Up The Creek, The Banana Cabaret and The Hot Water Comedy Club. Engagements overseas include: Guinness Comedy Club (Bahrain), The Comedy Store (San Diego), Cobbs Comedy Club San Francisco and The Brass Monkey, Perth (Australia.)
He has been the senior stand-up tutor at The City Lit Adult Education College since 2002.
